You Are the Water
By Sha Rene'
My Poem
Yes, you fluidity
with streams of light
You move so graciously
Under the moon
Taste the sweetness
of the rain mixed with toxic energy
but yet you survive
Today you pushed forward
gave life to a baby
When the water runs out, you still don't die
because it is the life inside of you
You are the water
The water flows within you
and a river
runs through your heart
You move through life
Ask not for forgiveness
at its fairytale
Receive your blessing of the trinity
Water in all its forms
whether a steam bath, or a cool drink or in the cold as ice
complete your journey
and you long for all things in love
Yes, you are the water
and in the sun
so warm
so warm
So Bask

My Thoughts
I write to feed my soul. I like to go to another place that I cannot physically touch. When I write, I have the chance to explore another realm of existence. I place myself in another person's shoes and I try to see the world through their eyes. I started writing poetry and music at 10 and it was out of the desire to speak out. My life in the 60's was a neighborhood life. Our existence here is and now determines how we relate to each other. I would sometimes write words that were musical and other times these words would stand on their own. My goal is to spread a message throughout the world of freedom and just being or experiencing every day life. I show this by sharing my life. It is my desire that whoever reads my words will be inspired as well. I specifically write with my vision through an African American eye because of my desire for our people to have a kinship."

"You are the Water," is a response to the poem entitled "You Are Not a Tree," by Blis. The vision I received made me realize what you can be, such as water. Readers of the poem asked me if this was about my life. When I write sometimes it is about my life but with words I am able to place myself in another woman's shoes and feel life inside me such as the water. In my book, "Words Can Explain," I have similar works where I may describe a broken African American household. Although my African American household was not broken, I can sympathize with the experience and use my words to create a vision. The imagery here to me represents the movement of life in a form that typically goes unnoticed. It is the rain that gives us this life and flows though the atmosphere that man has altered. With this, there is eternity.
